Each ERP database grows quickly, and after many years of usage this have a negative impact on system performances. Sessions that in the early years of the start of the system run in few minutes, now run in hours or even days. Archiving procedures allows to move old data in a different company, or to delete them definitively. |
What is Archiving? |
Each ERP database can grow by 125% at year, while the 75% of data usually became unneeded. So, with archiving it is possible to: · Improve system performances. · Free up on-line disk usage. · Remove obsolete data. · Better data management. · Reduce the TCO.
Why TO ARCHIVE? |
Usually, archiving is done on periodic base, for many companies this period is 1 year, but could be shorter or longer in other cases. The operation consists in preparing a new company and to move data in it. Those data could be used for consultancy, and after some other period could be moved from the on-line system to external data storage like CD, DVD, magnetic tapes, etc. |
